Celebrating the Release of My First Co-Authored Book

One year ago, I had the privilege of co-authoring my first book, A New Era of Leadership with AI: How Artificial Intelligence May Influence Leadership, with Dr. Ric Briggs. Today, I want to reflect on that milestone and the impact this project continues to have on leaders, educators, and innovators navigating the rapid rise of intelligent systems within their organizations.

When Dr. Ric Briggs and I first began discussing artificial intelligence in the context of leadership, our conversations were never just about technology. They were about people. We talked about leaders who were trying to make sense of emerging tools. We talked about teams that were adapting to new workflows. We talked about organizations that were being pushed to innovate faster than ever before. It became clear that leadership itself was being reimagined.

This book was born from those conversations. We wanted to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the ways organizations adapt, innovate, and thrive. At the same time, we wanted to highlight the timeless human qualities that remain essential to great leadership. Integrity, empathy, judgment, and the ability to inspire others are not replaced by technology. They are strengthened when leaders understand how to use intelligent systems responsibly.

Writing this book with Dr. Briggs was an incredible journey. We challenged each other, learned from each other, and brought together our shared commitment to ethical leadership. The result was a thoughtful exploration of how leaders can embrace artificial intelligence to support decision-making, foster creativity, and build stronger, more adaptive teams.

The release of A New Era of Leadership with AI marked a new chapter in my own work. It aligned with my research on how leaders perceive and adopt artificial intelligence in real organizational settings. It also laid the foundation for the second book we later co-authored, Teaching and Leading with Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education. Both projects reflect my belief that artificial intelligence is not only a technological shift. It is a leadership challenge that requires ethics, governance, and human-centered thinking.
