I had the privilege of joining Dr. Sharcon Jeannette Cross and Dr. V Boykin as a panelist for National University’s CBEM Day 2 Virtual Conference. The session titled Q and A Insight Research Discovery brought together alumni and current doctoral students for a conversation centered on how evidence-based research and practical experience shape innovation, leadership, and organizational impact.
Sitting on this panel reminded me of why I am so committed to the intersection of artificial intelligence, leadership, and higher education. My research examines how leaders perceive, adopt, and apply artificial intelligence in real organizational settings. This conversation offered a powerful space to connect research with the lived experience of business strategists, educators, and advocates who are navigating change in their own environments.
Throughout the discussion, we explored how insight becomes action, how research fuels discovery, and how leaders can use both to navigate complexity with clarity. These themes are central to my work and to the books I have co-authored. In A New Era of Leadership with AI, I examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping leadership practice and decision-making. In Teaching and Leading with Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, I offer a practical ethics-first framework for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, learning, governance, and policy.
The panel also highlighted something I believe deeply. Innovation does not happen in isolation. It happens when academia and industry collaborate, when research informs practice, and when leaders are willing to rethink old assumptions to prepare for the future of work. National University’s commitment to creating these spaces for dialogue is one of the reasons I am proud to be part of this community.
